Methodology
How Caravan Guide prices are calculated
We do not guess prices. We build them using a structured valuation process designed to reflect how caravans behave in the real market.
Built from original manufacturer pricing
Every valuation starts with the original manufacturer RRP for the caravan model. That original price is the foundation of the calculation and helps keep valuations consistent across the guide.
Caravan Guide uses independent pricing inputs and its own valuation logic. It does not use competitor valuation outputs as a starting point.
Step 1: Start with RRP
Each model begins with its original manufacturer price. This gives the valuation engine a clear and consistent baseline.
Step 2: Apply age based depreciation
The engine then applies depreciation based on the age of the model at the published quarter. As time moves on, values usually move down. That is expected behaviour, not a data issue.
Step 3: Generate a retail guide price
From the original RRP and the caravan’s effective age, Caravan Guide produces a retail guide value that reflects a structured market view rather than a manually typed figure.
Step 4: Derive a trade guide price
Once the retail value is established, a corresponding trade value is generated from it. This helps produce a practical dealer-facing guide rather than just a consumer-facing number.
Why prices can change each quarter
Caravan Guide publishes values by quarter. When a new quarter is released, the valuation date moves forward. The same model year is therefore older in the next edition, which can reduce both retail and trade even if the original RRP stays the same.
This means price history shows a sequence of published snapshots over time, not one fixed number forever.
Transparent by design
We believe users should understand why a caravan is worth what it is. That is why Caravan Guide supports clear pricing explanations instead of just showing a number with no context.
- Original RRP provides the starting point
- Age based logic drives quarterly movement
- Retail and trade are generated systematically
- Historical editions show how values moved over time
Important to know
Caravan Guide valuations are provided as a guide to support decision making. Final sale prices can still vary depending on condition, location, demand, specification, presentation, and timing.
In other words, the guide gives you a strong starting point, not a crystal ball. Sadly, we are good, but not supernatural.
Why Caravan Guide is different
Caravan Guide is more than a static list of prices. It is a valuation system built to generate retail and trade values from original pricing inputs using a structured methodology.
That means values are explainable, consistent, and designed to evolve as new quarters are published.
